Customs & import duties in Germany

Einfuhrumsatzsteuer on every parcel

Since Brexit a parcel from Great Britain is an import into the EU, so German import VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer) at 19% applies to the goods plus the shipping, with no minimum value. A reduced 7% rate covers books, food and a few other categories.

Duty only above €150

Customs duty starts once the goods alone are worth more than €150, shipping excluded. Goods actually made in the UK can still clear at 0% under the EU–UK trade agreement when the seller supplies a statement of origin; anything made elsewhere pays the normal EU rate.

Use our free duty calculator to see the full landed cost — no surprises at delivery.

Der Zoll charges the import VAT and any duty when the parcel lands, and couriers usually add their own clearance handling fee on top. Figures here are our current best estimate — the duty calculator gives you a number before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

What is UK to Germany parcel forwarding?

You get a real UK address at our Manchester warehouse, use it at checkout in any British store, and we forward the parcel on to your address in Germany. To the shop it is an ordinary domestic delivery, which puts the retailers that refuse German addresses — or charge heavily for them — back within reach.

Is UK to Germany parcel forwarding legit?

Yes. Forwarding is a completely normal, legal service used by millions of shoppers, and a parcel from Britain to Germany is simply a declared import like any other. As with any provider, check independent reviews rather than relying on a company’s own claims.

What is the best way of shipping from the UK to Germany?

DPD Classic (£23.37) is the cheapest, and UPS Express Saver (£32.05) is the sweet spot if you are in a hurry — two working days for around nine pounds more. The calculator above prices every option for your actual weight and size.

How long does UK to Germany shipping take?

Four to six days door to door for most services: 2–4 working days with UPS Express Saver, 3–5 with DPD Classic, 4–6 with UPS Standard. FedEx World Express can land in 1–3. Customs clearance can add a day.

Will I pay customs fees on parcels from the UK to Germany?

Usually some. Since Brexit, German import VAT at 19% applies to the goods plus shipping on every parcel from Great Britain, with no minimum value. Customs duty only starts above €150 of goods, and UK-made goods can still be duty-free under the EU–UK trade agreement. Couriers normally add a clearance handling fee as well.

How much does UK to Germany parcel forwarding cost?

The UK address itself is free, with no subscription. You pay only when you ship: from £23.37 for a 1 kg parcel, plus £2 + VAT if you want several orders combined into one. Storage is free for the first 30 days.

Can I combine several UK orders into one parcel?

Yes, and on this route it is where the savings are. We hold your parcels free for 30 days, then repack them into a single shipment so you pay one delivery charge instead of four — and clear customs once rather than four times.

Which UK stores can I shop from Germany?

Any store that delivers within the UK: ASOS, Next, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Argos, Currys, Boots, Superdrug and thousands more, including the retailers that quietly dropped German delivery after Brexit. If a store will not take your German card, our Buy For Me service can buy the items for you.

What duty rates apply to UK parcels in Germany?

Only above €150 of goods. Clothing is typically 12%, footwear 8–17%, and most computers and phones are 0% under the EU’s information technology rules. Our duty calculator applies the right rate per category before you buy.

Which couriers deliver from the UK to Germany?

DPD, UPS and FedEx all run this route, and the calculator shows each available service with live prices and delivery dates so you can pick your balance of speed and cost.

What if a UK store will not accept my German card?

Some British retailers only accept UK-issued cards. Our Buy For Me service solves that: tell us what you want, we purchase it on your behalf with our own local payment details, then forward it to you like any other order.
