Vinted in Canada: Is It Still Available and How Can You Buy From It?

Does vinted shop to Canada?
  • News

Vinted is no longer available in Canada, and it doesn’t ship to Canadian addresses from any of its other markets. You can still buy from Vinted in the US, the UK and Europe, though, by having your order delivered to an address in that country and shipped on to you in Canada.

This guide explains what happened to Vinted Canada, how buying through a forwarding address works, what it costs, which customs charges to expect, and the best Canadian alternatives if you’d rather buy and sell locally.

Is Vinted available in Canada?

No. Vinted is no longer available in Canada, and hasn’t been since early 2024. The Canadian marketplace launched in 2021, but less than three years later Vinted wound it down in three stages:

DateWhat changed
11 December 2023Vinted announced the closure and stopped accepting new sign-ups in Canada.
12 January 2024Members could no longer buy, sell, list items, make offers or add favourites. They could still access and complete existing orders.
12 February 2024The Canadian marketplace closed completely.

After the closure, most member data was deleted or anonymized. Some records were kept for a limited time to handle disputes, and some for longer to meet tax obligations.

Today, Canadians can’t open a Vinted Canada account, list items for sale, or buy anything with a Canadian delivery address. Canada also isn’t an option on any of Vinted’s other websites, so signing up on Vinted US or Vinted UK with a Canadian address doesn’t work either.

Why did Vinted shut down in Canada?

The main reason was technical. When Vinted launched in Canada in 2021, it built the Canadian marketplace on a different platform from the one it uses everywhere else. In its announcement, Vinted said that this made it “too challenging to maintain the standards of experience that we want to give our members worldwide.”

In practice, every new feature, safety tool or payment change had to be built twice: once for the main platform and again for Canada. For a single market, that wasn’t sustainable. Vinted chose instead to focus its resources on markets where it was growing faster, particularly Denmark, Finland and Sweden, which it had recently entered.

The closure wasn’t a verdict on Canadian demand for second-hand fashion. People in Canada still search for Vinted thousands of times a month, and platforms like Poshmark and Depop continue to operate there.

Is Vinted coming back to Canada?

There’s no sign of it yet. Vinted’s announcement was titled “Vinted is closing in Canada for now”, which suggests the door wasn’t shut for good. Since then, though, Vinted hasn’t announced any plans to relaunch in Canada.

Instead, it has expanded elsewhere. Since leaving Canada it has launched in Ireland, Croatia and Greece in 2024, Latvia, Estonia and Slovenia in 2025, and Australia in 2026. It now operates in 28 countries: 25 in Europe, plus the United States and Australia.

Its only international connections outside Europe run between the UK and the US, and between the UK and Australia. Canada isn’t part of either. If Vinted does return, it’s likely to be on the same platform as its other markets, but until it announces anything, the only way for Canadians to buy on Vinted is through an address in a country where it operates.

Does Vinted ship to Canada?

No. Vinted doesn’t ship to Canada from any of its marketplaces.

Each Vinted site is built around its own region. Sellers ship within their country, and in Europe, between countries that Vinted has connected. On top of that, Vinted runs a small number of international routes:

  • UK and US: Buyers and sellers in the UK and the US can trade with each other, although in the US this is currently limited to some states.
  • UK and Australia: Australian members can buy from UK sellers, and Australian sellers can ship to the UK for items valued under AUD 920.

Canada isn’t on any of these routes. In practice, that means:

  • A seller on Vinted US, UK, France or any other Vinted site can’t send an order to a Canadian address through Vinted.
  • A Canadian address can’t be entered as the delivery address at checkout.
  • A Canadian delivery address can’t be used to open a Vinted account.

That’s also why messaging a seller and asking them to “just post it to Canada” rarely works. Vinted’s buyer protection only covers orders shipped through Vinted’s own delivery system, so a deal arranged outside the platform leaves you with no protection if the item never arrives. The safe option is to have your order delivered within the seller’s country, to a forwarding address, and shipped on to Canada from there.

How to buy from Vinted in Canada with a forwarding address?

The way around this is a delivery address in a country where Vinted operates. The seller ships your order to that address as a normal domestic delivery, and a forwarding service receives it and sends it on to you in Canada.

Atvido gives you free addresses in the US, the UK and Germany, so you can buy from the three Vinted catalogues that matter most to Canadian shoppers.

Step 1: Get a free address in the US, UK or Germany

Sign up with Atvido for free and choose the address that matches the Vinted site you want to buy from: a US address for Vinted US, a UK address for Vinted UK, or a German address for Vinted Germany and the wider EU catalogue.

Step 2: Set up a Vinted account for that country

Create an account on vinted.com, vinted.co.uk or vinted.de using your real name and details, and enter your Atvido address as your delivery address. Read the next section before you do, as it covers what Vinted may ask for during sign-up.

Step 3: Buy the item and send it to your forwarding address

Buy as you normally would. At checkout, choose home delivery to your Atvido address rather than a pickup point, because a warehouse can’t collect parcels from a locker. The seller ships it within their own country, so delivery to the warehouse usually takes a few days.

Step 4: Check the parcel and ship it to Canada

When your parcel arrives, Atvido inspects it and photographs it, so you can see what you’ve received before paying for international shipping. If you’re waiting for more orders, you can store parcels free for 30 days and then combine them into one box. When you’re ready, choose a courier and ship everything to your door in Canada.

What to know before setting up a Vinted account from abroad?

Vinted’s rules allow one account per person, and the details you give must be accurate. A few practical points:

  • Phone verification. Vinted may ask you to verify a phone number, and a Canadian number isn’t always accepted. If verification fails, contact Vinted support. Don’t use temporary or borrowed numbers: that breaks Vinted’s rules and can get your account suspended.
  • Payment. Vinted accepts major credit and debit cards, including prepaid cards, and doesn’t list any restriction on where a card was issued. Not every payment method is available to every member, though, so if your card is declined, try another card or check with your bank that international online payments are enabled.
  • One marketplace per account. An account belongs to one Vinted country. If you want to buy from both Vinted US and Vinted UK, decide which matters more to you before you sign up.

Vinted US, UK or Europe: which is best for Canadian buyers?

The best Vinted for you depends on what you’re looking for and how much you want to pay at the border.

Vinted USVinted UKVinted Germany and the EU
Best forLower import costs, American brandsBritish high-street and designer labelsEuropean brands, a very large catalogue
Atvido addressUSUKGermany
Duty and tax free up to (courier)CAD 40CAD 20CAD 20
Duty-free up toCAD 150 for goods made in the US, Canada or MexicoCAD 20CAD 20

If price is what matters most, Vinted US usually works out cheapest once customs charges are included. If you’re after a specific British or European brand, the UK and German catalogues are much bigger for those labels.

How much does it cost to ship Vinted items to Canada?

Shipping from Atvido’s UK warehouse to Canada starts from £38.77 for a 2 kg parcel, with delivery in 4 to 16 days depending on the courier (8 services available, prices checked August 2026).

Your price depends on:

  • Weight and size. Couriers charge on whichever is greater: the actual weight, or the volumetric weight (length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5,000). A bulky coat in a big box can cost more than its weight suggests.
  • Service level. Express services arrive within days; economy services take longer and cost less.
  • Number of parcels. Every parcel carries a base charge, so combining several Vinted orders into one box is the biggest saving, up to 80% compared with shipping each separately.

Will you pay customs and taxes on Vinted items in Canada?

Probably, so plan for it. Second-hand items are treated like any other imported goods. Depending on the value and where the parcel comes from, you may pay customs duty, GST (5%) or HST (13% to 15% in participating provinces), provincial sales tax in some provinces, and a brokerage fee charged by the courier for clearing the parcel.

Parcels from the US

For courier shipments from the US, Canada’s thresholds are the most generous:

  • Up to CAD 40: no duty or taxes.
  • CAD 40 to CAD 150: GST/HST applies. Goods made in the US, Canada or Mexico stay duty-free.
  • Over CAD 150: duty and taxes apply.

That makes Vinted US the cheapest route for most small orders.

Parcels from the UK and Europe

For parcels from outside North America, the threshold is only CAD 20, so taxes apply to almost every Vinted order. Clothing and shoes are among the categories with the highest duty rates. Goods made in the UK can qualify for lower duty under Canada’s trade agreement with the UK, but only with proof of origin, which second-hand items rarely come with. Budget for duty on UK and EU orders.

How to protect your purchase when buying Vinted from Canada?

  • Report problems within Vinted’s deadline. Vinted gives buyers 2 days to report an issue after an order is marked as delivered. For you, that means delivered to the warehouse, not your home. Check Atvido’s arrival photos as soon as you’re notified, and if something is wrong, report it on Vinted within those 2 days.
  • Check sizing carefully. US, UK and EU sizes differ from each other and from Canadian labels. Ask the seller for measurements if you’re unsure.
  • Know that returns are harder. A return has to go back to the seller’s country, which takes time and costs more than a domestic return. Ask questions before you buy rather than relying on a return.
  • Watch for restricted items. Perfume, items with batteries and some liquids can only travel on certain courier services, which limits your options and can raise the price.

Can you sell on Vinted from Canada?

No. Selling requires an account in a country where Vinted operates, with details that are genuinely yours, including where you ship from and where your earnings are paid. A forwarding address only helps with buying. To sell your clothes, use one of the Canadian platforms below.

What are the best Vinted alternatives in Canada?

  • Poshmark: The closest to Vinted for clothing, shoes and accessories, with a large Canadian community of buyers and sellers.
  • Depop: Popular for vintage, streetwear and younger styles, and open to Canadian buyers and sellers.
  • Facebook Marketplace: Good for local deals and pickup, especially for larger items and children’s clothing.
  • Kijiji: Canada’s long-running classifieds site, best for local, in-person sales.

These are the easiest options for selling, and for buying locally without customs charges. For brands and pieces you can only find on Vinted US, UK or Europe, a forwarding address is still the way to get them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still use my old Vinted Canada account?

No. The Canadian marketplace closed in February 2024, so Vinted Canada accounts can’t be used to buy or sell. To shop on Vinted now, you’d need an account on a Vinted site in a country where it operates.

Can I pay on Vinted with a Canadian card?

Vinted accepts major credit and debit cards, including prepaid cards, and doesn’t list a restriction on where a card was issued. Not every payment method is available to every member, so if a payment fails, try another card or ask your bank to allow international online payments.

How long does delivery from Vinted to Canada take?

There are two legs. The seller’s delivery to your forwarding address usually takes a few days within their country. From Atvido’s UK warehouse to Canada, delivery then takes 4 to 16 days depending on the courier you choose. Express services arrive fastest; economy services cost less.

Is it safe to buy Vinted items through a forwarding service?

Yes, as long as you keep Vinted’s deadline in mind. Vinted’s buyer protection covers the order until it’s marked as delivered at your forwarding address, and you have 2 days from then to report a problem. Atvido photographs every parcel on arrival so you can check it in time, and you can add insurance for the trip to Canada.
